Dear Mr. Crouse:
As you are aware, in a press release dated January 23, 1980, the co-owners of.the proposed Cwis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3 (hereafter Davis-Besse. Units 2 & 3), announced their decision to terminate plans' to construct those facilities.
In several discussions with Toledo Edison since that time, the Staff has requested that Toledo Edison 1) notify the Staff whether they plan to withdraw their application for construction permits and, l
if so, to submit to the Staff a formal withdrawal of their application and j
- 2) to advise the Staff of the current status of Toledo Edison's activities
~
on site pursuant to their limited work authorizations, including plans if any,
.to redress the site.
To date however, Toledo Edison has not formally provided this information to the Staff.
In view of the time that has elapsed since the' announcement of the cancellation of Davis-Besse, Units 2 and 3, the Staff requests J
that Toledo Edison provide the information requested above within 30 days.
