Dear Mr. Ipeolito:

Mr. D. G. Eisenhut's April 10, 1981 letter transmitted a draft copy of SUREG-0785, " Safety Concerns Associated with Pipe Breaks in the BWR Scras System" and requested that certain generic information be pro-vided to NRC within 45 days. Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) is hereby responding to that request for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2.

On April 30, 1981, General Electric Company transmitted to NRC their generic evaluation of NUREG-0785 in a report entitled "CE Evalua-tion in Response to NRC Request Regarding BWR Scram System Pipe Breaks,"

NED0-24342, April, 1981. CP&L has reviewed this report and is in agree-ment with its conclusions.

Yours very truly,
