Dear Mr. Cook:

l

SUBJECT:

STRUCTURAL DESIGN AUDIT g

4 to Your letter of November 26, 1980 regarding the audit of Midia yI structures planned for the week of April 6,1981 recommended the addition of several NRC open items from our letter of June 30, 1979 to the meeting agenda.

The experience of our Structural Engineering Branch with similar audits on other plants indicates that the full five working days will be needed to cover the present information from the audit guideline forms provided by our letter of July 7,1980. Obviously, those structural open items which correspond to the information requested by the audit guidelines forms are inherently part of tnat audit and will, therefore, be included. We believe, however, that other open items requiring significant additional discussion time and staff personnel would best be left for subsequent technical review meetings.

We would anticipate scheduling subsequent meetings appropriate to related open items oromptly following the structural audit. Our licensing project manager should be contacted to arrange these meetings.

Sincerely, i,

' % Ew.,

Robert L. Tedesco, Assistant Director for Licensing Division of Licensing cc: See next page.
