t NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION 7 II*I S
W ASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 y
Q'.....,1 MAR 9 197g MEMORANDUM FOR:
Dennis M. Crutchfield, Section Leader Technical Support Section Program Support Branch, NRR FROM:
Victor Stello, Jr., Director Division of Operating Reactors
SUBJECT:
PROVISION OF INFORMATION TO CONGRESS Information provided to Congress whether routine or non-routine is submitted through the Office of Congressional Affairs. Specific types include:
1.
Responses to Congressional correspondence.
2.
Reports on unusual actions or significant incidents. For example, the Prairie Island spent fuel pool hearing decisions and orders.
3.
Show cause orders issued to licensees on operating plants.
4.
Quarterly Abnormal Occurrence Reports.
Occasionally, telephone requests for infonnation and briefings are received from Congressional Staff members. Congressional Affairs is notified after the fact.
We suggest that the Congressional Committees state the type of material they are interested in receiving. Perhaps on a temporary basis, we-could arrange to send OCA a sample of all issuances for review and discussion with representatives from the Congressional Comittees so that the Committees can decide on what they would like to receive.
Perhaps some of the documents generated by the Office Of Management and Program Analysis should be provided. Some examples are:
Nuclear Power Plant Operating Experience Current Events - Power Reactors Occupational Radiation Exposure Report Radioactive Materials Released from Nuclear Power Plants Generic Activities Summary Status Repost eg' W
