Emergency Core Cooling System Outages
Dear Sir:
Reference (b) transmitted Reference (c) which includes all TMI-2 related items aoproved for implementation by the commission as of October 31, 1980.
Item II.K.3.17 of Reference (b) requested a report of all ECCS outages for the last five years of operation in order to:
"... provide the staff witn a quantification of historical unreliaoility due to test and maintenance outages which will be used to determine if a need exists for cumulative outage requirements in the Technical Specification."
Enclosure (1) lists the ECCS outage data in the format requested under the
" PLAN OF EFFORT" section of Item II.K.3.17 of Reference (b).
This data includes all outages requiring execution of the time limited exception paragraphs of the Maine Yankee Technical Specifications.
Since Maine Yankee has experienced only 35 such outages with a cumulative outage time of 585 hours0.00677 days <br />0.163 hours <br />9.672619e-4 weeks <br />2.225925e-4 months <br /> in five years (43,800 hours0.00926 days <br />0.222 hours <br />0.00132 weeks <br />3.044e-4 months <br />), no changes are deemed necessary to improve and control availability.
