O APPENDIX B NOTICE OF DEVIATION Mississippi Power and Light Company License Nos. CPPR-118 Grand Gulf CPPR-119 Based on the NRC inspection October 28-31, 1980, certain of your activities appear to deviate from your commitments to the Commission and from applicable guides, codes or standards which are approved by the Commission as indicated below:
Appendix Table 9A-1 Item E.2.c of the FSAR states in part that the fire pump installation will meet the provisions of National Fire Protection Association Standard 20 (hTPA-20), " Centrifugal Fire Pumps." Section 6-3.4.1 of hTPA-20 requires the power supply protective devices (fuses or circuit breakers) installed in the power supply circuits at load centers ahead of the fire pump feeder circuits to not open at the sum of the locked rotor currents of the fire pump motor and the maximum load currents of the other circuits. Sections 6-3.4.2 and 7-4.2 of NFPA-20 require the power supply protective devices (fuses or circuit breakers) installed in the fire pump feeder circuit to not open at the sum of the locked rotor currents rating of the fire pump motor and associated fire pump assessory currents.
Contrary to the above, the rating of the power supply protective devices in the fire pump feeder circuit is considerably less than the locked rotor current rating of the fire pump motor.
Also, the rating of the power supply protective devices installed in the power supply circuit to the load center ahead of the fire pump feeder circuit is less than the sum of the locked rotor current of the fire pump motor and the maximum load currents of the other circuits.
