l This report covers 'the operation of the Yankee Atomic Electric
' Company at Rowe, Massachusetts for the month of June, 1971.
At the start of the period, plant load was 180.0 MWe. One scheduled plant shutdown occurred on June 5 for the purpose of mechanical and instrumentatica maintenance. Load reduction was commenced at 0630 hours0.00729 days
0.175 hours
0.00104 weeks
2.39715e-4 months
, and the turbine generator was separated from the high line at 0813 hours0.00941 days
0.226 hours
0.00134 weeks
3.093465e-4 months
. Following completion of the maintenance period.the turbine generator was phased to the high line at 20h2 hours. The reactor power level, which was 485 MWt at 2200 hours0.0255 days
0.611 hours
0.00364 weeks
8.371e-4 months
on June 5, was increased to 600 MWt on May 6 at 1115 hours0.0129 days
0.31 hours
0.00184 weeks
4.242575e-4 months
. During the balance of the report period plant load varied between 176.3 MWe and 182.8 MWe as the circulating l
vater inlet temperature fluctuated between 62 F and h90F.
0 l
The fifth, Core IX vapor container air leakage surveillance I
period was commenced on June 1, and continued through the report period j
with normal leakage noted.

2.
The No. 1 chargin3 pump ves repacked.
3.
During the June 5 shutdown period the following maintenance items were performed:
Vibration readings were taken of all four main coolant pumps.
a.
All readings were normal.
b.
The upper bearing was replaced on the No. 1 circulating water pump.
The inboard gland on the No. 3 boiler feed pump was repacked.
l c.
d.
The generatcr exciter commutator was stoned during turbine coast-down.

maintenance itema performed by the plant staff during the month of June, 1971.
1.
The pressurizer temperature selector switch was replaced.
2.
The high temperature shutoff switch for the No. 2 control air compressor was replaced.
Reactor Plant Performance l
The following parameters were determined by means of incore instrumentation:
