Dear Mr. Keppler:
On March 28, 1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). This item was described in more detail in an interim report to your office dated April 25, 1980 (DSN 0425804002).
As discussed ir. the interim report, PSI has obtained an ADfE interpretation of code requirec.ents regarding Certified Material Test Rept rts (CMTR's).
The ASME confirmed that for the applicable edition of the Code, weld filler material used on the spool pieces in question could be furnished with only a Certificate of Compliance and a CMIR was not required. Other '
questions pertaining to these Certificates of Compliance require additional surveillance cf vendor facilities and this surveillance is not yet complete. PSI' anticipates this surveillance will be complete and the results available on or before December 15, 1980. If you have any questions on this matter, please feel free to contact me.
