i APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Philadelphia Electric Company Docket No. 50-277 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on June 5,1980, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in full compliance with NRC 1
requirements as indicated below.
This is a deficiency.
10 CFR 71.5(a), Transportation of Licensed Material, requires that NRC licens-ees comply with the applicable packaging and transportation requirements of the Department of Transportation in 49 CFR Parts 170-189.
49 CFR 172.504(a), General Placarding Requirements, requires that each motor vehicle containing any quantity of hazardous material must be placarded on each end and each side with the specified placard.
Contrary to the above, on June 5,1980, the licensee delivered low level radio-active material via Tri-State Motor Transport Company trailer #SL-1 (SSR #020598, Volume Allocation 30680-311-E) to the Chem Nuclear burial site without a " Radio-active" placard on the front of either the tractor (#638) or the trailer.
