Dear Mr. Uzzi:

This is in partial response to your letter dated February 28, 1981, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, copies of documents which respond to the four categories of information you requested concerning measurement of radiation levels,at the San Onofre Nuclear Generator Station, San Onofre, California from January 1,1975 to February 28, 1981.

In 1974 the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) established an NRC Local Public Document Room (LPDR) in the Mission Viejo Branch Library, 24851 Chrisanta Drive, Mission Viejo, California.

Appendix A is a listing of the categories of information which are on file in the LLDR.

The purpose of the LPDR is to provide a local source of access to all publicly available agency records relating to the San Onofre facility.

The records subject to your request are contained in the " Environmental"

" Inspection" and " Reportable Occurrence" files.

All records in the LPDR are available for inspection and copying.

As Mr. Frank W. Karas of my staff explained in his telephone conversation with you on April 1,1981, we are continuing our search for documents subject to your request and we will communicate with you again in this matter.
