Eisenhut to All Operating Reactor Licensees, the following information is being provided for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station.

Item II.K.3.3 requires a)1 licenses to report annually challenges to the primary coolant system safety and relief valves.

'de are interpreting challenges to mean the opening of the main steam safety or relief valves in response to a high reactor pressure condition.

Valve testing history is not included.

The operating history for 1980 is as follows:

1.

Challenges to Safety Valves:

None 2.

Challenges to Relier Valves:

Mr. D. G.

Eisenhut Page 2 The Reactor was operating at 100% power and experienced a loss of feedwater transient due to problete.s associated with the condensate demineralizer.

During the transient Reactor level reached the lo-lo level setpoint'and Group I, II & III isolations occurred.

About 10-12 minutes af ter the MSIV's closed reactor pressure reached 1100 psi.

Four relief valves opened on pressure as required (C, D, E & F).

All relief valves successfully closed when-reactor pressure was reduced below setpoint.

Very truly yours, f'
