APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation Docket No. 50-271 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on September 15-October 17, 1980, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in full compliance with the conditions of your NRC Facility License No. DPR-28, as indicated below.
This item is an infraption.
A.
Technical Specification 6.5.B.1 requires, in part, that "...each high radiation area in which the intensity of radiation is 1000 mrem /hr or less shall be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation area...".
Contrary to the above, on October 8,1980, the inspector identified an area adjacent to the South bank of hydraulic control units on the Reactor Building 252 foot elevation with measured dose rates of 140 mrem /hr. The area was naither barricaded nor conspicuously posted as a high radiation area.
