Zimmer Geosciences Branch 323.22 (2.5.2.5) 27 July 1980 Sharpsburg KY, Earthquake On 27 July 1980, a moderate earthquake occurred near the town of Sharpsburg, Kentucky atarc 42-45 miles SE of the Zimmer plant site.
Supply a complete report discussing all essential elements concerning this earthquake including:
1.
All magnitude estimates (Ms, MbLg, Mb,teleseismic) 2.
Epicentral Intensity and Isoseismal map 3.
Written description of felt effects and intensity at the plant site.
4.
Effect of the Ohio River valley on the intensity distribution of this event.
5.
All available references 323.23 Assuming the 27 July 1980 earthquake reoccurred in the immediate vicinity of the site, compare the estimated ground motion (Response spectra and peak) from this assumed earthquake to the SSE.
123.24 Since the Anna, Ohio earthqJake was considered to'be the basis for the SSE, both the 1937 Anna Ohio earthquake and the 27 July 1980 Sharpsburg, KY are spatially located near the Cincinnati Arch basement feature. Discuss these earthquakes in terms of their impact on your tectonic framework for the Central Stable Region and the Zimmer site area.
