NRC STAFF RESP 0i4SE TO APPLICANT'S FIRST SET OF INTERR0GATORIES TO STAFF The NRC Staff hereby submits responses to interrogatories subnitted by the Applicant and received by the Staff on May 1,1981.M Although 10 CFR Q 2.720(h)(2)(ii) requires that interrogatories to Staff must be filed with the presiding officer who may require response by the Staff member designated by the Executive Director for Operations, the Staff has waived this provision by informal agreement with Applicant for one time only, on the condition that the interrogatories did not require significant expenditure of Staff's time or resources and that no requests for documents were included. The Staff views the Applicant's interrogatories as meeting the conditions of the informal agreement and provides its answers in the attached affidavit.
