Docket No. 50-285 l

Omaha Public Power District ATTN: Mr. W. C. Jones Division Manager Production Operations 1623 Harney Street Omaha, Nebraska 68102 Gentlemen:

This letter is to confim telephone calls from my office to your office on April 24 (Ms. Jane Morfeld) and April 27,1981 (Mr. T. Patterson) in which Mrs. Reba Diggs of my staff suggested that your company stop payment on Check No. 4265 dated March 26, 1981, in the amount of $4,000, and suggested issuance of a new check. The check was to be in payment of fees pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22 for your application notarized April 27, 1981, for Technical Specification changes for an increase in the Fort Calhoun Unit No.1 shutdown margin for cold shutdown conditions.

Our office recently learned that the application had been filed and the referenced check cannot be located.

We have searched all of the USNRC records and they do not reflect that the check was received. We also called your attorney's office (LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby, &

MacRae), and according to their records, the check was forwarded with the application.

If your records show that the check has been paid, please notify us imediately.

Sincerely, crif.r.M S W I W William O. Miller, Chief License Fee Management Branch Office of Administration ec: Mr. Terry Patterson Omaha Public Power District 1623 Harney Street G
