Dear Mr. DelGeorge:

Subject:

Special Test for Simulated Loss of Alternating Current Power Initial Test Program for La Salle County Station, Unit No.1 Your letter of April 16, 1981, forwarded for our review, outlined your proposed special test simulated station loss of all alternating current power. We have reviewed the ostline and identified several areas of concern. These concerns were oiscussed in a telephone conversation on April 28, 1981, between you and Mr. Bill Huntington of Commonwealth Edison and A. Boumia and W. Long of the staff.

This is to confirm your agreement to provide additional information in response to the following concerns:

1.

Would loss of ventilation and chilled water to vital areas other than the primary containment (i.e., Reactor Core Isolation Coolant area) limit the capability to remove decay heat if all alternating current power is lost?

2.

Would the battery capacity limit the capability for decay heat remcval with loss of all alternating current power?

Subject to satisfactory resolution of the above concerns, we are in agreement with the ter,t method and objectives cutlined in your letter of April 16, 1981.

Sincerely.
