Gentlemen:
This refers to the apparent item of noncompliance which we brought to your
attention in Inspection Reports No. 50-454/81-03; 50-455/81-03 forwarded
by our letter dated April 13, 1981.
Subsequent to the inspection, we received additional information concerning
this matter by telephone from personnel at the Byron Station.
As a result,
we conducted a further review of this matter during an onsite inspection on
April 24, and May 1, 1981. Th'e results of this inspection, which will be
documented in Inspection Reports No. 50-454/81-04; 50-455/81-04, disclosed
that the radiographic techniques in question were acceptable and meet the
applicable code requirements. Therefore , this matter does not constitute an
item of noncompliance, and a response from you, as requested by our April 13,
1981 letter, is no longer necessary. We consider this matter closed, and our
records will be corrected accordingly.
Our actions, as previously described, were discussed during a telephone call
between Mr. R. L. Spessard of my staff and Mr. J. S. Abel of your staff on
May 4, 1981.
