Use of ASME Code Cases N-298, N-302, N-309, and N-310 or the Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 We have completed our review of the reauests in your letters of January 23, 1981 and April 16, 1981 for authorization to use ASME Code Cases N-298, N-302, N-309, and N-310 for application on the Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2.
t!e have found acceptable: Code Case N-298, " Examination of Component Supports,Section III, Division 1, Class 1, 2, 3, and MC Construction"; Code Case N-302,
" Task Welding,Section III, Division 1 Constructfon"; and Code Case N-309,
" Documentation of Material fer Components Supports,Section III, Division 1".
Thus the Code Cases N-298, N-302, and N-309 may be used in the construction of components for Marble Hill, Units 1 and 2, and should be documented in the FSAR.
t!e have determined that Code Case N-310, " Certification of Bolting Materials", is currently not an acceptable code case without additional justification for its use and should not be used in the construction of components for Marble Hill. To justify its use, the staff needs to know (1) why you are unable to meet the certifica-tion requirements of Subarticle NCA 3800 (or NA 3700) for component support bolting, (2) where this bolting, which does not meet NCA-3800, will be used in the Marble Hill Plant, and (3) how you intend to demonstrate that the bolting material properties required by the component support Design Specification are present without such certification.
