..3 This refers to your February 22, and April 21, 1980 requests for route approvals to cover shipments of Haddam Neck spent fuel to Battelle Columbus Laboratory in Ohio.
We have determined that the review of licensee route approval requests is subject to the Commission's license fee schedule in 10 CFR 170.
For reactor licensees, fees for the review of route approval requests will be assess (
under fee Category F of Section 170.21, as special projects.
In accorda..:e with Footnote 4 of Section 170.21, the charge for the review will be determined by the Commission based on the professional manpower required to conduct the review pi'as any support costs.
In determining the fee to be charged, only actual staff time expended in the review of the route request is used to calculate the fee; the route (field) survey con-ducted by the NRC staff is excluded from fee computation.
The review of the February 22 and April 21,1980 oute approval requests were completed on March 31 and April 23,1980 (copies enclosed).
The cost of the review amounted to $1,368 (36 man-hours @ $38/m-hr). We have, therefore, notified the NRC Office of the Controller to issue your Company an invoice for the fee.
