Dear Mr. Seyfrit:
South Texas Project Units 1&2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Second Interim Report Concerning Stud Welds on Concrete Embedments On July 31, 1980, pursuant to ICCFR50.55(e), Houston Lighting & Power Comoany notified your office of a deficiency concerning stud welds on concrete embedments.
An interim report on this matter was submitted to your office on August 23, 1980. This letter provides infomation on the present status of this subject deficiency.
As stated in our first report, dated August 28, 1980, a preliminary evaluation has been performed. At this time it is indeteminate that a safety hazard exists.
Additional data is currently being collected that may be utilized in performing a detailed evaluation pertaining to various aspects of this deficiency.
Completion of this work is expected near the latter part of this year. Thus, the next report on this deficiency will be submitted tj December 17, 1980.
