Docket No. 50-285 Mr. W. C. Jones, Division Manager Production Operations Omaha Public Power District 1623 Harney Street Omaha, Nebraska 58102

Dear Mr. Jones:

By letter dated August 10, 1978, Omaha Public Power District responded to an NRC request for information, dated July 13, 1978, related to CEA position indicating systems. The information was requested by the staff to provide a data base for evaluating the adequacy of the CEA position indicating systems at CE plants on a generic basis which was designated Generic Item E-06.

We have completed our reviews referenced in our July 13, 1978 letter and our review of the information you provided.

Since the indicating systems employed at the Fort Calhoun Station are different from those in question at the time of our original request and since you indicate that no changes are planned for the Fort Calhoun systems on the basis of their perfomance, the staff has concluded that no further action on this subject is. warranted.

We, therefore, cotisider this to be a closed item for your facility.

The staff has also reviewed your February 19, July 23,1976 and March 1, 1977 responses to our requests on In Core Poison Rod Growth, and have concluded that the information provided was adequate to resolve our safety concerns.

We', therefore, consider this generic issue, which we designated B-15, to also be resolved for the Fort Calhoun Station. The proprietary information which was provided on this subject has been withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(b) as stated in our June 20, 1977 letter.

Thank you for your cooperation and if you have any further questions on these subjects, please contact us.

Sincerely, Robert A. Clark, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #3 Division of Licensing cc: See next page 8010010 I
