i Sir. W. C. Jones Division Manager, Production Operations Cmaha Public Power District 1623 Harney Street Omaha, Nebraska 68102
Dear Mr. Jones:
The staff has reviewec our May 2,1980 response to our January 7,1980
~1etter concerning Quality Assurance Requirements Regarding Ciesel Generator
?
Fuel Oil and we feel that scme clarification is needed in both our requirements and your commitments.
The staff is concerned that the diesel fuel, delivered and subsequently stored on site, is of adequate quality to assure proper operation of the diesel generators.
In order to provide this assurance, it was requested that you include a progran for quality assurance of ciesel fuel in the "O list" for your facility.
It was fur.her stated, in our letter, that Regulatory Guide 1.137 describes an acceptable method of complying with
- .e Comission's requirements concerning diesel fuel oil.
Your response ir.cicates that your present crogran adequately incorporates the pro-visions of tne Comission's requirecents except for the testing of 'uel cefore it is loaced into the storace tanks, but does not indicate that f our program is a part of the Station's QA Program.
In order for us to resolve this Generic Issue, we again reques that-you include the present program for diesel fuel oil quality assurance in tne Ouality i.ssurance Program and add it to the "Q list".
We further request that you provice a discussion of how the quality of incoming fuel oil is assured oefore it is added to tne storage tanks.
