September 17, 1980 0FFICE OF INSPECTION AND ENFORCEMENT EN-80-42 NOTIFICATION OF SIGNIFICANT ENFORCEMENT ACTION Licensee: Charles Zimmerman, M.D., Paterson, New Jersey

PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CI"IL PENALTIES - 51,250 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and a Notice of Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalties in the amount of One Thousand Two Hunured and Fifty Dollars will be issued on or about September 19, 1980, to Charles Zimmerman, M.D.
This action is based on two alleged items of noncom-pliance relating to the loss of an iodine-131 capsule which was in an unrestricted area and not secured against unauthorized removal nor under constant surveillance and immediate control, and the storage and use of material in an unauthorized location.
A news release has been prepared and will be issued about the time the licensee receives the Notices.
The State of New Jersey will be notified.
4 It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
