CONTAMINATION OF NONRADI0 ACTIVE SYSTEM AND RESULTING P0TENTIAL FOR UNM0NITORED, UNCONTROLLED RELEASE OF RADI0 ACTIVITY TO ENVIRONMENT
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On June 25, 1980, Florida Powar Corporation (FPC) submitted a response to the subject IE Bulletin 80-10.
On July 28, 1980, the reitrogen system at Crystal River Unit 3 became contaminated due to interfacing of the (nonradioactive) nitrogen system w th the (radioactive) core flood system.
During the IE Inspection, June 2 thru July 31, 1980, conducted by Mr. T. Stetka, of your office, FPC made a commitment to revise the re-sponse to the subject IE Bulletin 80-10 by August 31, 1980, to include nitrogen and other systems which may become contaminated or radioactive due to operational errors or valve failures.
Since the incident of July 28, 1980, FPC ttaff has been working on the required revised responses.
Because these responses are to be reviewed with the appropriate plant and engineering personnel for acceptable cor-rective actions, it has been determined that we will require until Oct a - 15, 1980, to completely respond to the bulletin.
