This is in response to the Boani's Order and Notice of December 23, 1976-2 that the parties attempt to agree on a schedule of witnesses for the week beginning on January 18, 1977.
The Staff informed' Counsel for Consumers Power Company that any schedule of direct witne::ses presented by Consumers and/or Dow agreed upon by the ot6 parties would be acceptable to the Staff as long as we were informed well enough' in advance to schedule the attendance of our expert advisors.

From communications received on January 4,1977, it appears that the other

parties have failed to reach an agreement.
In view of that, the Staff wishes to advise the Board of our view that absent a showing of good cause 1
to the contrary, a party should normally be accorded the right to schedule 1
its direct witnesses in the order it' chooses. We would simply suggest.

. that particular subject areas of witnesses for Consumers and/or Dow be l
' kept together to the extent possible for the sake of an orderly record.
Specifically, absent some practical reason to the contrary, Messrs. Temple and Oreffice should testify consecutively, as should Messrs. Howell, Youngdahl, and Aymond.
