Dear Mr. Excell:
The possible re-starting of the Vallecitos Nuclear Test Reactor causes great concern for me and many others living in-l l
the Livermore-Amador Valley.
l As my representative to the local governmental board actively studying the issus 1 ask you to be cautious and prudent, all the while remembering that the profit motive can narrow corporate vision and cloud its conscience.
l l
Foi those of us in the Valley, many of whom are parents, the health and safety concerns are THE paramount issues in this i
controversy.
General Electric will continue to thrive and prosper with or without the Vallecitos Nuclear Facility.
.B ut, what about your constituents in Fremont whose drinking water could be con-i taminated following a quake or those of us in Dublin who fear the l
threat of another TMI if the cooling water tanks were to rupture Lring a quake.
As my spokesperson on the Board of Supervisors, I ask that you do all you can to insure that the safety questions are examined at length.
Be tenacious and meticulous.
Please don' t be satisfied with a lot of technical j argon about " design" earthquakes and the structural requirements needed to withstand these " design" quakes.

l I urge you and the rest of the Board of Supervisors to stay out of the Show-ca.us e bearing on the seismic structural question l
and to instead concent. rate on the health and safety impacts of the l
nuclear facility -- structural statistics are meaningless unless l
considered as part of the whole.
