Re:

Operating License No. TR-1 Show Cause en

Dear George:

It has come to my attention through a newspaper article that a potentially serious problems exists with General g

Electric Company reacotrs in that there may be possible breaks in one of their coolant systems.

The problem was discovered during an inspection at the Brown's Ferry Nuclear Plant in Alabama on June 28th, and I am wondering if this problem exists at the GETR.

My concern is that it is the same or similar coolant system as being used in the GETR, that it may pose a potential threat to life and property in the area should the system fail, whether by earthquake, landslide, or what may be a design oversight on the part of the engineer.

(

I would appreciate it if you would investigate this situa-i tion and report to all parties relative to this situation l

because it may have some direct impact upon our situation.

Thank you for your courtesy and cooperation.

Very truly yours, LAW OFFICES OF CARNIATO & DODGE 3503 s

Re:

Vallecitos Nuclear Center /GETR Operating License No. TR-1 Gentlemen:

As you will note, the affidavits required by appropriate C.F.R. sections are not attached to the enclosed responsive documents.

Because of coordinating difficulties with the persons preparing the responses to the Admissions and Inter-rogatories, the affidavit is currently being forwarded to 5

that individual, Glenn Barlow, for execution and notariza-tion.

Upon my receipt of the fully executed and notarized Affidavits in support of these discovery responses, they will be immediately forwarded to you.

I apologize for the delay, but it is, under the circum-stances, unavoidable.

I thank you for your courtesy, cooper-ation and patience in this matter.

Very truly yours, LAW OFFICES OF CARNIATO & DODGE i
