Dear Mr. Hoffman:
The Comission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 38 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-6 for the Big Rock Point Nuclear Plant.
This amendment is in response to your application dated December 3, 1980 This amendment (1) extends the date for compliance with the Confirmatory Order issued by the Comission dated February 21, 1980, which requires the installation of a Recirculation Pump Trip, from December 31, 1980 until the co@letion of the NRC staff's review of those portions of the Big Rock Point Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) that relate to Anticipated Transients Without Scram, (2) requires that all portions of the PRA that relate to the efficacy of a recirculation pug trip at Big Rock Point be submitted to the NRC by March 1,1981, and (3) requires the submittal, prior to restart from the 1980 refueling outage, of the Big Rock Point emergency procedures and training program that relate to the recognition and mitigation of an ATWS event.
Copies of our related Safety Evaluation and the Notice of Issuance are also enclosed.
