Subject:

McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370

Dear Mr. Denton:

On December 14, 1979 Duke Power Company responted to Mr. R. L. Baer's September 11, 1979 request for information con:erning fuel assembly guide thimble tube wear.

Subsequent to our earlier letter an inspection program has been developed to demonstrate that there is no occurrence of hole for-mation in the guide thimble tubes of a Westinghouse 17 x 17 fuel assembly array. The results of this inspection will be submitted to the NRC prior to startup following the first refueling outage of McGuire Unit 1.

Very truly yours,

/.
