At the November 12, 1980, meeting of the Advisory Panel for the Decontamination of Three Mile Island, Unit 2, the panel decided to hold two, and possibly three meetings during December. After polling panel members regarding their avail-ability on certain dates, Chairman Minnich scheduled meetings on December 18 and December 30, 1980.
Mr. George W. Cunningham, Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy, U.S. Department of Energy, and Mr. Robert Arnold, Senior Vice President, Metropolitan Edison Company, have agreed to meet with the panel on December 18 to discuss radioactive waste management issues pertinent to the decontamination of TMI-2.
Enclosed for your infomation is a copy of the Federal Register notice for the meetings giving times and locations.
If you are unable to attend either meeting, please notify Chairman Minnich at 717-255-2741. Such notification is important since, according to the rules and procedures drafted at the Panel's first meeting, there must be a quorum of seven members in order to conduct a meeting.
It would be unfortunate, especially for members who must travel relatively long distances, if a last minute cancellation were required due to a lack of a quorum.
Sincerely, L\\ [/ -
William Travers Technical Assistant Three Mile Island Progran Office, NRR
