Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
This confirms the conversation between Mr. R. M. Poulk, Jr., Regulatory Specialist, and Mr. Austin Hardin, of your office, at 1530 on November 12, 1980 concerning an immediately reportable event per IE Bulletin 80-17.
On November 12 while performing Periodic Test 2.1.8P, RCIC Exhaust Diaphram High Pressure Functional Test, on Unit No. 2, it was determined that the turbine exhaust pressure instrument, E51-PS-N012 channels A and C would not trip the turbine on a high exhaust pressure. The RCIC system was declared inoperable. Channels B and D of E51-PS-N012 were found to be operable.
Channels A and C were determined to be out of calibration. They were recalibrated and the RCIC system was returned to service on November 12, 1980 with a total down time of 9 hours1.041667e-4 days <br />0.0025 hours <br />1.488095e-5 weeks <br />3.4245e-6 months <br /> and 45 minutes.
