South Texas Project Units 1&2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Fifth Interim. Report Concerning the Polar Crane Rail Tie-Down Studs On March 20, 1980, pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e), Houston Lighting & Power Company notified your offic? of an item concerning broken tie-down studs in the Reactor Containment Building Unit 1 polar crane rail system.

Repairs are currently in progress and are expected to be completed by late December,1980.

Following completion of the repairs, the polar crane will be ready for no-load operation; this will permit testing to verify its operability.

The next report on this concern will be submitted to your office by April 1,1981.
