NOTICE OF VIOLATION Columbia University in the City of New York Docket No.70-882 This refers to the inspection conducted by representatives of Region I i
(Philadelphia) office at the Columbia University, New York, New York, of activities authorized by NRC License No. SNM-870.
During the inspection conducted on August 6,1980, the following apparent item i
of noncompliance was identified.
This is an Infraction.
1.
10 CFR 70.53(a) requires, in part, that each licensee who is authorized to possess special nuclear material totaling more than 350 grams of con-tained uranium-235, uranium-233 or plutonium, or any combination thereof, shall complete and submit to the Commission Material Status Reports on Form NRC-742, in'accordance with printed instructions for completing the form. All such reports shall be made as of March 31 and September 30 of each year.
Contrary to the above, the inspectors determined on August 6, 1980, that the licensee had not submitted Material Status Reports to the Commission for the periods ending March 31, 1979, September 30, 1979 and March 31, 1980.
The licensee was authorized to possess more than 350 grams of contained uranium-235, uranium-233 and plutonium during the periods the Material Status Reports were not submitted.
