Dear Sirs:

We are reporting Abnormal Occurrence No. 72-19 During a surveillance test of the Vapor Container Isolation Valves Trip System, the solenoid operated valve SOV-h32 failed to operate l

vhen energized by the Master Trip WL Relay. Failure of the solenoid j

valve to operate prevented four air operated valves in the secondary l

steam system from closing. The solenoil valve controls the air supply I

to the four 2" trip valves:

1.

TV h0h steam drains to condenser 2.

TV h06 main steam line drains to condenser s

3.

TV blo auxiliary steam to No. 1 feedvater heater t

i h.

TV hil atmospheric steam dump i

Investigation showed that the solenoid valve latch was rough.

The latch was refurbished followed by a successful retest of the system.
