Gentlemen:
By letter dated May 24, 1967, Yankee Atomic Electric Company requested approval of Proposed Qiange No. 79 to the Technical Specifications of Facility License No. DPR-3 for the Yankee Nuclear Power Staties.
The proposed change would authorise the pH range of the reacter coolant to be between 4.5 and 10.5.
Supplemental information was submitted by letters dated February 2 and 5 and telegram dated April 30, 1968.
We have reviewed the proposed change and have found that it does not present significant hasards considerations not described or imp 1fcit in the safety analysis report, and that there is reasonable assurance that the health and safety of the public will not be endangered.
A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
