By latter dated July 2,1973, you submitted " Report on Effects of a Piping System Break Outside Containment at Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Rowe, Massachusetts." We have reviewed the report and find that it does not contain sufficiant information to enable us to evaluate the potential problem at Yankee Howe. Accordingly, additional information is required.
Consistent with the requirements of our December 18, 1972 letter, your submittal should include a description of the facility with drawings showing the locations of high energy I b n and equipment required for safe shutdown and should identify term % 1 ends and i:mnediate break locations. If stresses were not used to determine break points, then a positive statement should be made that breaks were postulated at any and all locations. In addition, a positive statement should be made of the results of evaluating high energy lines in auxiliary systeme and a listing of those systems evaluated. The submittal should also state the alternate methods for removing heat and cooling the core for the postulated breaks. The location of any necessary improvements should be accurately shown.
We will need a complete response by September 10, 1973. You are requested to provide this information in one signed original and thirty-nine copies.
