73*10'01, 02111 (S) 21114 (E) SERIAL: 9330 As agreed during the May 23, 1980 meeting at Bethesda, Maryland, we are submitting a report entitled " Reactor Pressure Vessel Support Modification for Midland Nuclear Power Plant, Midland, Michigan, Preliminary Report No.

1."

This report describes the proposed modification including the design allowable stresses for the reactor vessel anchor bolts and other design criteria.

This report also describes the current schedule for the support modification.

Per this schedule, we vill submit a final report to the NRC by October 1980 describing the final design loads and detailed analytical techniques to be used. We request that the NRR staff and all other NRC groups as. appropriate review this material in a timely manner. We would appreciate having NRC review and concurrence with these modifications by December,1980 in order to complete this work on a schedule compatible with the overall project schedule.
