Suite 202, Walnut Creek Plaza 1990 North California Boulevard Walnut Creek, CA 94596 Docket 50-312 Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 IE Bulletin 80-16
Dear Mr. Engelken:
A research of instrumentation at Rancho Seco has revealed that we have one Rosemont Model 1152GP9A92T0080PB, Serial No. 70830 installed. This unit's function is to provide an automatic closure signal to decay heat valve HV20002 as pressure increases to above 250 psig.
The valve associated with this transmitter is the second valve off the reactor coolant system. Therefore, if the transmitter did fold over on at excessive pressure and remove its interlock function, the valve would either close if it had been open, or remain closed.
SMUD will investigate the function further, but at present, it appears that no action nor replacement of the transmitter is required.
As requested in your letter, the estimated manpower expended in the conduct of review and preparation of the report required by the Bulletin, is five man-days.
Sincerely, h
