Loss of Offsite Power Survey; Additional Information
Dear Sir:
As requested in Reference (b), we provided information in Reference (c) on the availability of offsite power at the Maine Yankee Plant from 1972 through 1979 Reference (c) concluded that at Maine Yankee there have been no occurrences of complete or partial loss of offsite power during the eight years of plant operation. During this period there have been individual 115 kV line outages for maintenance and brief outages caused by lightning or by line faults, but there has never been a simultaneous outage of both 115 kV transmission lines which would have constituted a loss of offsite power.
In a telephone conversation between Yankee Atomic Electric Company (YAEC) and the USNRC on June 26, 1980, R. F. Scholl of the USNRC requested additional information on the above mentioned individual outages of the two 115 kV transmission lines providing offsite power to the Maine Yankee Plant. It was agreed that available information would be provided to the USNRC by August 22, 1980.
By attachment to this letter we are providing tabulated information on the dates, length, and types of outages for the two 115 kV transmission lines supplying offsite power to the Maine Yankee Plant.
There is no record of any voltage increase or decrease or of any frequency decay associated with any of these line outages.
