NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION g
p WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 49.....,o March 5,1980 Docket No. 50-286 Mr. George T. Berry, Executive Director Power Authority of the State of New York 10 Columbus Circle New York, New York 10019
Dear Mr. Berry:
RE: ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT In our meeting of February 21, 1980 regarding the subject program, we indicated that an accelerated review schedule was being developed for this program and that Zion Units 1 and 2 and Indian Point Units 2 and 3 were being included.
Inclusion in this program exempts these facilities i
from having to respond to IE Bulletin 79-OlB on the same subject. The review schedule is. attached as Enclosure 1, which includes the required date for your submittal. The aim of this program is to accelerate the qualification review process by assuring that the NRC staff, instead of generating questions concerning deficiencies in documentation, can concentrate on (1) review of discrepancies you have identified, and (2) auditing the basis for accepting the qualification of other equipment.
The information to be provided in your submittal is summarized in.
References 1 and 2 of Enclosure 2 were provided to you previously. Where you have previously submitted some of the required information, it is sufficient to incorporate information already on the docket by specific reference.
It is not necessary to resubmit.
However, an orderly organization of the information should be maintained.
For example, if any previously submitted table is changed, revised pages should be submitted. does not show submittal dates for Palisades and Oyster Creek, since the scheduled site visits for these plants precede any practical submittal date. Material provided for these two plants will be upgraded to the level of other plant submittals through a question-and-answer process.
Sincerely,
- C M
