Title:
Steam Generator Task Force Meeting Meeting Identifier: 20191194 Date of Meeting: November 14, 2019 Location: 3WFN 1C03-1C05 Type of Meeting: Category 2 Purpose of the Meeting: The purpose of this meeting is for the NRC staff to discuss steam generator (SG) issues with the industry.
General Details: The industrys Steam Generator Task Force (SGTF) met with the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff on November 14, 2019, at NRC headquarters.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a variety of SG issues. The meeting consisted of open and closed portions during which public and proprietary information was discussed, respectively. The public slides are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML19317F251. This meeting was noticed as a public meeting and the agenda is available in ADAMS under Accession No. ML19308B755.

Summary of Presentations: During the meeting, industry representatives made presentations which addressed topics described in the meeting notice. At various points in the meeting, there were additional discussions about agenda topics. A summary of the information exchanged during the meeting is discussed below. Unless noted otherwise, the information below was stated by industry representatives.
- During the public portion of the meeting, industry representatives addressed comments contained in a letter from a member of the public (ADAMS Accession No. ML19305D290). The industry responses to the letter from a member of the public are contained in the meeting slides (ADAMS Accession No. ML19317F251). These slides address issues that were raised in the letter such as:
o Potential weaknesses in the assumptions used in the operational assessment (OA) process o Examples of past operating experience in which an OA-driven process (without additional requirements) may have led to a loss of tube integrity o Whether cracking in Alloy 600TT SG tubes is limited to certain tube sub-populations o Treatment of benign signals during inspections o Accuracy of depth-sizing for outside diameter stress corrosion cracks o Accuracy of long-term tube wear projections
- In the second portion of the meeting, the member of the public who submitted the letter provided additional comments in response to the industrys slides and participated in a discussion with NRC staff and industry representatives. This portion of the meeting was closed since it involved proprietary information. The member of the public stated that he plans to submit additional written comments at a later time.
- In the final portion of the meeting, the industry provided responses to staff comments (ADAMS Accession No. ML19329B433) regarding automated data analysis meetings held in 2011 and 2015 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML110670317 and ML16047A365) and to staff comments regarding the EPRI Steam Generator Management Program guidelines. This portion of the meeting was also closed since it involved proprietary information.
