APPLICATION FOR REVISION OF CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 9356 FOR THE MAGNATRAN PACKAGE - ACKNOWLEDGMENT LETTER
Dear Mr. Fowler:
By letter dated October 31, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML19308A203), NAC International submitted an application for revision to Certificate of Compliance No. 9356 for the Model No. MAGNATRAN transport package. The application includes revised drawings to incorporate changes made to the canister pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 72.48 during storage and code exceptions to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
This letter informs you that the application appears to contain the necessary information to begin our technical review. We have established a schedule for the technical review of your amendment request. The schedule allows for the staff to issue a possible request for additional information by the end of the third week in February 2020, and a certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report by the end of May 2020, based on you responding to a request for additional information by the end of the third week in March 2020. If no additional information is needed, the certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report may be issued by the end of March 2020. The staff estimates that completing the safety review of this application will require approximately 200 staff hours.
