Dear Mr. Crow:
.u We respectfully request that the above referenced license be renewed 'nN its entirety for an additional twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months, or (v/jg,* e that it be downgraded to a by-product license for this period.
The ourpose of this request is twofold:
- 1) The existing license expires on February 28, 1981.
- 2) Todd Research & Technical Division is in the pmcess of going out of the radioactive business in its entirety.
In the process of completing the decomissioning our facility the residue by-product contamination in oipes and sumps will be removed, thereby allowing us to request an NRC cnse-out inspection sometime betweeri Dec.1981 and June 1932 to allow for the final termination of our
- licenses.
This request is intended to be our application submittal filed within th'e required 30 day time frame.
In addition to the above information, please be advised that we no longer have on hand any Special Nuclear Material, only the by-product residue which Fas olated out in pipes and sumas.
