193 0 t 31 Docket No. 50-346 v' Toledo Edison Company ATTH: Mr. Richard P. Crouse Vice President - Nuclear Edison Plaza 300 Madison Avenue Toledo, Ohio 43652 Gentlemen:

We have received a copy of your application dated March 19,1981, that was filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (ONRR) for review.

The application proposed an alternate service water capability at Davis-Besse Unit No. I to modify or replace an existing dilution pump to supply water to the service water system (SWS) without utilizing equipment located in the same fire area as the SWS pumps.

Fees pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22 did not accompany your application.

Based on information provided by the ONRR review staff as a result of a preliminary review cf your application, it has been determined that this request involves consideration of a single safety issue and, therefore, requires a Class III fee of $4,000.

It is requested that your Company remit this amount to our office.

If the ONRR stafi's final review of your application reveals that this fee is incorrect, an adjustment will be made and you will be notified.

Sincerely,
