SUBJECT:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 Suppression Pool Dynamic Phenomena

Dear Mr. Lear:

The following is in response to your letter of April 17, 1975 which requested that information relative to the design of our contairment be submitted to you. We have previously responded to your request with our letters, dated May 6,1975; July 3,1975; August 1,1975; and October 30, 1975. Our letter of October 30, 1975 concerned the Mark I Containment Evaluation Short Term Program - Final Report, NEDC 20989, which was fomarded to Mr. R. S. Boyd, NRC, by a letter from Mr. I. F. Stuart, General Electric, dated October 6, 1975.

Volume I of NEDC 20989 indicated that additional work, not in the original Short Term Program, was still undemay and therefore not reported.

A portion of that work has now been completed and submitted to you as Addendum 1 to NEDC 20989 by a letter from Mr. I. F. Stuart, General Electric, to Mr. R. S. Boyd, NRC, dated December 2,1975. The information contained in Addendum No.1 regarding the relief valve lines within the torus is applicable to the Oyster Creek plant.

Mr. I. F. Stuart stated in his December 2,1975 letter that additional work is still in progress on the evaluation of the torus supports. At the December 3 and 4 meeting in Bethesda concerning the evaluation of the Mark I containment, General Electric agreed that information would be submitted con-cerning the continued operation of the Mark I plants while the evaluation of the torus support system is completed. As a result of this, General Electric has submitted a letter-report from Mr. I. F. Stuart to Mr. R. S. Boyd, dated December 18, 1975. The final result of the evaluat4on will be submitted in March 1976 as Addendum II to NEDC 20989.
