  • SECOND INTERIM REPORT The subject deficiency was initiall7 reported to NRC-OIE Inspector ,

R. N. Wright on November 7,1980, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e). An '

inte'im m port was submitted on December 3, 1980. We expect to submit our next report by April 2, 1981.

t All two-inch schedule 160 socket welds have been identified and reinspection is approximately 98 percent complete. Preliminary results indicate that approximately 10 percent of welds require additio'nal weld metal. Other sizes of schedule 160 socket welds along with schedule 80 and 40 socket welds are being sampled to determine the full extent of the deficiency. This sampling is approximately 75 percent complete. TVA has ,

conducted retraining sessions for fillet weld inspectors and wi?.1 conduct l retraining of crafts employees in the area of fillet weld size require-ments. All deficient welds identified will be repaired by adding weld i metal as appropriate. >
