Unless etherwise authori:cd by the Commission, the licensee shall not assign protectien factors in excess of those specified in Table 6.12-1 in selecting and using respiratory protective equipa nt.

REVOCATION 6.12.3 The specifications of Section 6.12 shall be revoked in their entirety upon adoption of the proposed change to 10 CFR 20, Section 20.103, which would naLe such provisions unnecessary.

6.13 HIGH RADIATION AREA 6.13.1 In lieu of the " control device" or alarn signal required bv paragraph 20.203(c)(2) of 10 CFR 20:

Each high radiation area in which the intensity of radiation "is 1000 a.

cren/hr or less shall be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation area and entrance thereto shall be controlled by ree, airing the issuance of a Radiation Work Pernit*. Any individual or group of individuals pernitted to enter such areas shall be provided with one or more of the following:

1.

a radiation monitoring device which continuously indicates the radiation dose rate in the area; 2.

a radiation monitoring devic: which continuously integrates the radiation dose rate in the area and alarts when a preset integrated dose is exceeded; 3.

a health physics qualified individual with a radiation dose rate conitoring device to perform periedic surveillance of the activities in the area at the frequency specified in the RKP.

A High Radiation Area in which the intensity of radiation is greater j

l than 1000 nres/hr shall be subject to the provisions of 6.13.1.a above except that in the case of iten a.3.,

continuous surveillance shall be substituted for periodic surveillance.

In addition, locked doors shall be provided to prevent unauthorized entry into such areas and the keys shall be maintained under the administrative control of the Shift Supervisor on duty and/or the Plant Health Physicist.

  • Chemistry and Health Physics personnel and Shift Auxiliary Operators shall be exempt from the RKP issuance requirement during the l

performance of their assigned duties.
