La Crosse, WI 54601
Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine inspection conducted by Mr. J. B. Hopkins of
this office on December 12-18, 1980, of activities at the La Crosse Boiling
Water Reactor authorized by NRC Operating License No. DPR-45 and to the
discussion of our findings with Mr. J. Parkyn at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined
during the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted
of a selective examination of procedures and representative records,
observations, and interviews with personnel.
No items of noncompliance with NRC requirements were identified during
the course of this inspection.
The containment leak rate at LACBWR has been demonstrated to be within
allowable Technical Specification limits on two consecutive occasions
in 1979 and 1980. Consequently, according to Technical Specification 5.2.1.1(d)(3), a test schedule consisting of a set of three Type A tests
performed at approximately equal intervals during each 10 year service
period, may be resumed.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part
2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of tnis letter and the
enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document
Room, except as follows.
