APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION United Nuclear Corporation Docket No.70-820 Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on August 18-19, 1980, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in full compliance with your NRC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-777 as indicated below.
This item is an infraction..
License Condition 9 of License No. SNM-777 dated July 16, 1976, authorizes use of special nuclear material in accordance with Section 100 of the licensee's application. Amendment No. 4 to License No. SNM-777 dated November 22, 1978, incorporated Subsection 103 dated May 10, 1978, into Section 100 of the licensee's applica+1on.
Subsection 103, Summary of Activities, states, in part, " Fuel Recovery Operation handles and processes various types of unirradiated nuclear fuel scrap materials, in order to reclaim the uranium for recycling."
Centrary to the above, during the years of 1977 through 1980 the licensee handled and processed without authorization various types of irradiated nuclear fuel scrap in order to reclaim approximately 390 kilograms of uranium-235 for recycling.
