Dear Mr. Hukill:
As part of its testimony in the TMI-l restart proceeding, the NRC staff will address the reasonableness of GPU's TMI-2 cleanup cost estimate.
We have issued a contract to William J. Manion, President of the NES Division of Nuclear Energy Services, Inc., for the purpose of analyzing the cost estimate and testifying on behalf of the NRC staff in the restart hearing. You are requested to cooperate with Mr. Manion by providing additional details and background material on the cost estimate that we will subsequently request. We will be seeking the consultation of GPU's and Bechtel's technical staff that prepared the cost estimate. Please provide us with contacts in both organizations that are familiar with the cost estimate.
